I have conferred with many a classmate (and thus 'mathdork'), and even a non-classmate (although she could certainly be considered a 'writerdork').
What did we discuss?
The fact that, when one is wearing an analog watch, the moment that a perfectly sane stranger asks you for the time is the single most panic-inducing traumatic event one can experience.
- Person wearing watch's internal dialogue: Oh, God... The big hand... the little hand... past the... before... uhh... [blue screen]
- Person wearing watch's external dialogue: Umm................It's......................It's broken. Sorry. [innocent shrug akin to the kid who started the fire in Four Rooms--same grimaced smile]
Elise doesn't wear a watch precisely for this reason (and wearing a digital watch is for 9-year olds).
I'm pretty sure I can't get a prescription though.
